Spacing is off after vertical splitview collapses and reappears

I've got a vertical splitview with the right view collapsing. I've tried putting a few items in that view, like a search bar and an outline view. All springs and struts are on both the view that collapses and the outline view it contains. The search bar is anchored to the top and the right of the collapsing view and is set to grow horizontally. The outline view and search field should maintain a distance of 20 points from the right of the containing window.
Resizing works well until the view collapses completely. When I bring the collapsed view back, the search bar and the outline view are stuck to the right side of the containing window, rather than being 20 points to the left, as they should be.
